Kat is a queer identifying multidisciplinary arts practitioner, who is focused on building inclusive communities and engaged audiences.

 

She is best known for her work as the Creative Director and Founder of Heaps Gay, an award-winning arts and events organisation which creates outrageous and unforgettable events and experiences for the LGBT+ community and their allies which she started in 2013.

 

During the pandemic, Kat launched new ventures,Queer Agency a specialist creative and consultation service with a focus on lgbtqia+ audiences and voices for brands and organisations, Summer Camp Festival, a new one day pride in Victoria & NSW & transformed an old cinema in Chinatown into a new cultural arts space in Sydney that housed “ Pleasures Playhouse” which has now become the new late night hotspot.

 

Kat is a creative, events & culture fanatic & has over a decade of experience working with orgs on creative campaigns, specialising in music and youth market & diverse audiences. She was the 2020 Creative Director of Sydney Mardi Gras, a 17-day LGBT+ multi arts festival and world-famous parade and more recently the Creative Director of the MCA Artist Ball honouring Tracey Moffatt + creative consultation and production for brands such as Tinder, NGV, Beats By Dre, State Library of NSW, Red Bull Music, Absolut Vodka, Splendour In The Grass, MTV, Westpac, FBi Radio, Junkee Media, Electronic Music Conference, Semi Permanent, Karla Spetic & many many more.

 

Kat also sits on a number of cultural advisory panels including for the City of Sydney and Australian Festivals Association.

Off the back of the Big Tinder Wedding, a nationwide campaign to find queer couples who met on Tinder so that they could shout them a wedding, this panel will unpack: how to approach queer representation and inclusivity as a brand, the value of 'give back' marketing, achieving multiple objectives with a single campaign, and working with creators on a year-long journey.
