Chris Nay

Chief Executive Officer, Wheelchair Rugby Australia

Chris Nay is the CEO of Wheelchair Rugby Australia, appointed in 2022 having first been involved in Wheelchair Rugby since 2018 when Sydney hosted the World Championship.

Chris’ leadership and adaptive mindset has been the catalyst behind the rapid rise of Wheelchair Rugby Australia. Formally a small, poorly funded sport losing revenue annually, Wheelchair Rugby Australia now sets the bar as Australia’s premier Paralympic sport, enjoying a staggering rise since signing the largest disability sport broadcast deal Australia has seen, along with a series of other innovative moves to change perceptions, drive inclusion and change everything for athletes across the country. The Australian Steelers are now the current world number one ranked team, with Australia also boasting triple the numbers of female players in its national side than any other nation in the world.

Chris is the youngest CEO of all the Olympic and Paralympic sports and continues to drive unprecedented growth across a number of key areas, setting a new level and a different way of thinking in sports revenue, broadcast and events for other sports to follow.

Formally an athlete himself, Chris’ unique experience and adaptive mindset has created one of the most compelling stories in Australian sport…and it is yet to be finished!
